Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Everyone! I wanted to go ahead and start off by saying thank you so much for visiting the blog! I’ve been working to make 2019 a year of trying new things and reorganizing my life! Today is my first Stay-At-Home Tuesday (I’ll explain later), so I figured it’d be a good chance for all of you to bundle up at home and see what this blog has to offer you, as well as some things I have planned in store for the year as a whole.

First things first, shannelgoettman.com

One goal I had for this year was to get shannelgoettman.com up and running with some brand new content! I didn’t really know exactly which direction I wanted to go with it. I started this whole influencer approach focusing solely on Instagram (click here to view). I was posting pictures of outfits/things I like/random collaborations I have  been lucky enough to be a part of and I have to say, it’s been a very fun adventure thus far, but I find myself hungry for more. I feel I am a bit limited to posting once a day, and don’t really have a platform to voice my opinions. I wasn’t able to completely post about whatever I liked on Instagram, because I felt I was trying to go for a certain aesthetic. I felt a blog would be easier to make a deeper connection with my followers, where I have more freedom to express myself. I feel Instagram is about posting beautiful pictures, while my blog will be a way to give myself a voice. So I started to jot down ideas and decided to go with the various things I am interested in and can share with all of you! It goes as follows:

Munch Mondays:

I have always been a bit of a foodie. I wanted to use Mondays as a chance to share with all of you some of the must-see restaurants and places to eat I have come across, whether it be one of my old favorites, something I have discovered on my own, or a small business that has reached out to me that I can shine some light on. I am not much of a cook myself, but I would also use this day to share any recipes or any other food-related topics that I feel are worth sharing.

Stay-At-Home Tuesdays:

I turned twenty-seven this year, and with it comes a new appreciation for staying in. My early twenties consisted of being on the go constantly. My life was a whirlwind of traveling, music festivals, and late nights. Though I still love to be out and about, I have found a new sort of comfort in cozying up at home and creating some me-time. I plan to use Tuesdays for all things stay-at-home, whether it be skin care, new makeup techniques, or binge-worthy Netflix picks.

Wellness Wednesdays:

Working out and making healthy food choices has been kind of a love/hate relationship in my life. In my later college years, I started working out and dieting for all the wrong reasons. I became addicted to cutting the amount of calories I was eating and doing a minimum of 1-3 hours of cardio every single day. I started to feel like my life consisted of cooking, washing dishes, running on the treadmill, and being in a constant state of hangry (oy vey). I am working to find a healthy balance that is doable and makes me happy. I want to be able to work out, eat well, and still be able to balance the other parts of my life that I have grown to love. I tend to visit a lot of different workout studios and places to get a quick run in and plan to share them with you here.

Things-To-Do Thursdays:

As I mentioned on the Stay-At-Home Tuesdays section, I still love going out and doing things while I’m out and about, so I felt that I needed a day to tell you all about the things to do in the area. I feel that this will consist mostly about influencer-related events I attend, but if I come across any fun activities, I’ll be happy to share them with you here as well.

Fashion Fridays:

My bread and butter, and reason I started it all: my love for fashion. It’s pretty self-explanatory, but here I will put all things fashion. This could be must-see sales, outfits I felt I needed to share, collaborations, or trends I felt needed discussing.

Hold on, what about weekends?

As far as weekends go, I was hoping to use them primarily for writing days, as well as shooting photos for Instagram and the blog. However, if anything doesn’t fit any of the above categories (or I find time to do a vacation), I will probably use Saturday or Sunday for this.

This is what I see for the blog for now, but things may change where I need to add categories or take them away. One thing I do plan to keep a constant is an honest and true-to-self platform where I am able to share in as most of an authentic way as possible.

What Other Goals do you have planned?

To be completely honest, I feel a little confused in life at the moment. I’m not sure where I am going as far as with my career, I am most likely going to have to move out of my childhood home in the next few months, and I’ve worked up quite a bit of debt over the last few years with some lavish spending. A very important man in my life had me write down my goals, and it being the New Year and all, I felt it fitting to share them with you:

  • Daily Goals:
    • Be More Positive
    • Listen
    • Drink more water
    • Choose the healthier option
    • Spend less money
    • Do something active
    • Learn something new
  • Weekly Goals:
    • Plan ahead
    • Connect with long distance friends
    • Workout at least 3x a week
    • Give when given the opportunity
    • Make time for deep cleaning
    • Make time for me-time
  • For the Year:
    • Take control of finances
    • Get blog up and running and turn blogging into extra income
    • Move out
    • Save, save, save
    • Make more money than the year before
  • Lifetime:
    • Have a career you are proud of
    • Be a part of a group/charity that makes a difference
    • Own a home
    • Get married/be a Mom
    • Strengthen relationship with God
    • Find time for family
    • Travel when you can, see what you can

    I very much enjoy your zest for life and I love the theme of giving each day a special purpose!
    I’ve been writing lists and goals for many years.
    I too have my days that I’m suppose to do a particular item.
    Example: Monday OFF yoga Tuesday’s tennis/taco Tuesday, errands Wednesday golf/clean office, Thursday’s nails and hair, yoga. Friday 🎾 night. Saturday yoga? Sunday Church and tennis 🎾
    I of course have to work on my business/ philanthropy, organization. Maintain a home Without a maid, etc
    When you’re a full time professional and a mom my lists and time management was crucial!

    I admire your fortitude and your passion to becoming the best you can be! “BALANCE” is so important!
    As I’ve aged and work from home some quick tips for always looking good when you don’t work in an office would be great! Classic fashion as well!!
    My goals for daily and weekly yearly are written down! I always do this every year!! And from time to time!

    1. I loved reading your schedule! It sounds like a full plate! I try to be super organized as well (I pretty much live off of my phone calendar, and have two planners– one for work and one for blogging) This Friday I’m posting one of my outfits and linking everything to the websites where I purchased them, but I love that idea! Thanks for helping getting my creative juices flowing, I’m going to need all the suggestions I can get! 🙂
