I’ve always loved a great breakfast joint. In fact, my first ever job was being a hostess at a little Mom & Pop restaurant near my house. I firmly believe that has to be the origin of where my Breakfast obsession came from. On top of that, being from Southern California any place offering a South of the Border option becomes a must-see in my book. Enter here Kimmie’s Coffee cup in Brea. Now I’m no stranger to Kimmie’s. I’ve gone a time or two to the Fullerton location near Downtown Fullerton. However, the friend I was supposed to meet accidentally went to the wrong location (oops!). I have to say the two locations were pretty similar, though this one was quite a bit larger and had a little bit of wait. Luckily my friend was able to grab a table for us, so I didn’t feel the full wrath of the wait time. I simply can’t get enough of the little Mom & Pop feel right when you enter. I was greeted with the familiar sign & little heart shaped tree.
When I got to the table, the signature Kimmie’s Coffee Cup was waiting for me. I’m kind of a wimp when it comes to coffee, so I was very grateful to receive my choice of Hazelnut or French Vanilla creamer. The menu was pretty extensive. Click here to view the full menu. The various subcategories were: Classic Breakfast, Specialty Breakfast, South of the Border, Breakfast Sandwiches, The Light Bite, For the Sweet Tooth, as well as a full lunch menu (I didn’t even get a chance to look at). I tend to always be stuck between getting something sweet or a hearty Mexican breakfast and today was no different.
I decided to go with the Southwestern Breakfast Bowl while my friend got the Eggs Benedict. I had to say the bowl was pretty delicious, I just wish I would have had more pieces of avocado. The menu was the same, but the thing that really differentiated this location with my usual Fullerton location was definitely the size and the location. I feel that they are able to fit a lot more people here. There were several rooms and an entire back of the restaurant I didn’t get a chance to see. It was also really nice to be a few blocks away from the Brea Mall where my friend and I were able to get some shopping in and walk off our brunch. If you’ve never been to Kimmie’s, I’d suggest visiting at least one of their six locations: Anaheim Hills, Brea, Cypress, Fullerton, Orange, or Placentia.
