Hosting the Perfect Girl’s Night In

Being a Southern Californian, I know how painfully dramatic I can be about the “cold”. As soon as it drops under 70, I’m ready to stay in, put on comfy clothes, and bundle up. My social life typically takes a dip. For today’s Things-To-Do Thursday I thought I’d give you the best of both worlds and talk about what to focus on when hosting the perfect girl’s night in.

I am a firm believer that as humans, interaction with one another is absolutely essential when it comes to survival. If humans were meant to be alone, solitary confinement would not be one of the worst punishments in prison. And let’s be real, silent treatment will forever be one of the most annoying fighting tactics you could ever receive. We are meant to be together. There’s few things I look forward to more than girl time. When it comes down to it, there’s only a couple things you’ll want to keep in mind when hosting the perfect girl’s night in:

  1. Company. This should be an obvious one. You’re going to want to invite people over you get along with. For this particular Girl’s Night In, I hung out with a couple old coworkers I haven’t seen in a while. It was so nice to be able to catch up and talk about what we had been up to since the last time we saw each other.
  2. Snacks. Whenever it comes to Girl’s Night In, our primary concern usually is the snacks. In this particular GNI, I made a pit stop to Trader Joe’s (website here). I got the “gourmet deli selection” with the Italian option. We got a honey & goat cheese, as well as a fontina cheese with the rosemary & raisin crisps. I also grabbed tortilla chips with a spinach and artichoke dip you throw in the microwave. All of the snacks together totaled to about $21, and we had leftovers. My girlfriends’ and I always take pride in the presentation of our meat and cheese plates. You’ll want to make sure to make this as Instagram-worthy as possible.
  3. Beverages. My girlfriends were in charge of the wine. I totally forgot to grab the names of the wines, but we paired our snacks with a rose and a white wine. These can also very easily be purchased at Trader Joe’s.
  4. Entertainment. Though we could entertain each other with simply updates of our personal lives alone, we decided to try to focus on other peoples’ drama and put the premier of The Bachelor. (Side note, is anyone else super excited for this season? I only have seen some of Becca’s and the very end of Arie’s season). As far as other show options we usually like to put on comedies (like Friends) or any other mindless reality shows will do.

Well there you have it. I hope I have brought a little inspiration as to what you can have planned for the upcoming week. Hope to hear all about your Girls’ Nights In!
