Now when I use the term “heaven”, I mean that very loosely because this place will definitely kick your butt. The stairs at Hillcrest Park are one of my favorite places to get a cardio workout in. If you’d like, you can add some ankle weights to intensify your workout, but I personally think the stairs are enough. There’s tons of different workouts you can do, but I’ll share my go-to.
I usually will start by going to the main staircase (which is the longest one). As you can see from the picture, there are quite a bit of stairs. There tends to be other people on the stairs, but never so many as to disrupt the flow of my workout. I’ll sprint to the middle section where the benches are.
From here, I’ll usually do a few different kinds of leg workouts. Typically, I’ll do a set of 10 squat jumps, and 10 leg lifts on either side, and ten leg lifts on either side. This is where the ankle weights may come in handy if you are used to doing weighted leg workouts. The remaining stairs to the top I will do lunges.
There is a football field beside the stairs, and if there are no games going on, I will run down the rest of the stairs and do a lap around the field. I’ll repeat this entire workout 3-4 times.
