My Guilty Pleasure: Subscription Boxes

You know, I genuinely like you guys. The support I get from all of you coming on here to read my content means the world to me. I hate to say though, I may ruin your life with this post. Okay, not exactly. But, I will be showing you some of my favorite subscription boxes I have used. I currently had to stop most of them because 2019 is going to be my year, dang it, of getting these finances in order. Hopefully you all are in a better spot, so if you have money for them, I think they’re worth the splurge and as soon as I’m able to splurge again I’ll be right here with you.

Ellie Activewear (website here). When I started this subscription box, I had membership to a yoga studio and was going several times a week. Keep in mind, this was hot yoga (which may be the world’s biggest understatement). If you haven’t tried it, you’ll have to take my word for it when I say you get pretty sweaty. I was spending a ton on the studio, and spending a ton on the clothes. I found Ellie through Instagram. They use quite a bit of influencers to promote their marketing, however, I’m only sharing this because of my genuine appreciation for this service. They have two options, a 3 item monthly plan for $39.95 a month and a 5 item monthly plan for $49.95 a month. Back then I had the 5 item plan, and I have to say, I was absolutely obsessed. I figured I was spending over $50 for a top/pants/sports bra anyway so the added items were just a plus. They usually were little items you could use in your workouts. In fact, I still use some of them today. Some of my favorite items were the resistance bands, an ab roller, and a jump rope for cardio.

Trunk Club (website here). This one I haven’t quite been able to say goodbye to. Now to start this off, I have to tell you I have become quite the sucker for Nordstrom. With Trunk Club, you get paired with a personal stylist that you can connect with through their messenger service. As your stylist gets to know you, she sends you a box with items picked for you based on your style. It get shipped to your house, you try everything on, send back whatever you don’t want, and simply keep what you like. They just charge the card on file. Trunk Club charges a $25 styling fee that goes toward whatever items you want to keep. If you have a Nordstrom credit card (and you know I do, girlfriend), this styling fee is waived. You can choose to have this service monthly, bi-monthy, or once every 3 months (or every season). These boxes come with shoes, accessories, and the cutest clothing. I discovered this through coworkers and my life has been ruined ever since. You’re welcome.

Hello Fresh (website here). Now I never actually set this up to get the monthly subscriptions, but I do think it is worth sharing. I discovered this through one of my best friends who gave me her code to get a week with 2 free meals. You were able to go on the site and pick through different dishes. They then ship a box of the ingredients necessary along with step by step instructions on how to prepare the meal. Now I am not a cook by any means, but following a recipe I can do. What I did appreciate was that they give you the exact amount of ingredients you need to make a dinner for 2 (or 4), because I am constantly having to throw out food before I’m able to use them (is it just me or has no one else ever finished a bag of greens before they went bad?). I also thought it was worth it to get the perfect amount of seasoning. If I had a dollar for every time I overspent on an entire container of seasoning I only used once, I’d probably be able to do all these subscription boxes again. They have veggie plans, classic plans, and family plans for 2 or 4 people 2, 3, or 4 times a week. They are $8.99 a serving (and $7.87 a serving for the family plan).

Now these other subscriptions boxes I haven’t personally used, but I would be interested in trying them if I were made of money:

  • Ivory Clasp – Get paired with a stylist for monthly purses/hand bags
  • Try the World – Receive ingredients, drinks, and snacks from countries around the world
  • My Coffee and Book Club – Gourmet coffee and 2 hardcover books and 1 ebook sent to your home (in the genre of your choice)
  • Craft Beer of the Month Club – Pick 5 craft beers to try monthly
  • FabFitFun – 4x a year receive full size beauty, health and fashion items
  • BarkBox – Because why shouldn’t your favorite furry friend get their own subscription box while you’re at it?

I hope you enjoyed this Stay At Home Tuesday and please let me know if you try any of these subscription services. Best of luck to you.
