Green Bliss Cafe

As I mentioned before, the last three weeks I was eating vegan for the Daniel Fast at my church. For the most part, I was eating at home. It was just easier for me to cook my own food than to give a waiter a hard time. There was a couple times though, I did eat out. Enter here Green Bliss Cafe (website here), a vegan-friendly restaurant right in the heart of Downtown Fullerton. I went with my parents that did not have the food restrictions for brunch, and Green Bliss Cafe had something for everyone.

The restaurant was laid out with a walk-up counter. All vegan and vegetarian options were clearly labeled so it avoided all of the awkwardness of having to ask the workers what was and wasn’t vegan-friendly. The employee let me know that you can also make any substitutions to dishes. The outdoor seating area had the absolute cutest courtyard. It ย was a lovely day, and all the surrounding buildings had the Spanish architecture that I love so much.

5I ordered an Arepa with soyrizoย & vegan cheeseย ($7.00) and a veggie bagel ($6.00). The Arepa was absolutely delicious. I’m not sure if it was the soyrizo or the green sauce, but the dish had quite a kick to it, and it was absolutely amazing. The veggie bagel was just a faux cream cheese and avocado sans tomato because I’m typically not a big tomato fan. I honestly found it a little bland to be completely honest, but it could be because I asked for them to remove the tomato. I just missed bagels and cream cheese so much it didn’t quite hit the spot for me. I think with a little bit of lemon pepper or some kind of seasoning it’d be a lot better. I’d be interested in seeing if that is an option. Together, it was more food than I could finish, but I could definitely see myself coming back from the Arepa.

I did not get to try what my parents ordered because they were not vegan. But I can tell you that they had a lot of great things to say about both. On the left is the Chicken Pesto Panini and Kale Salad ($11.00) with a cup of broccoli cheddar soup ($4.50). On the right is the Bacon Bake ($9.00).

Overall it was a really great experience with really good food. I really appreciated that there was plenty of options for vegan and non-vegan eaters alike. That’s all for today’s Munch Monday! Hope the rest of your week goes fabulously!
